From Vermeer to Van Gogh / Destination Cosmos
From 7 July 2024
From Vermeer to Van Gogh takes you back to the 17th-century, the golden age of Dutch painters such as Vermeer and Rembrandt capturing the Dutch society with rough seas, scenes of faith and enchanting winter landscapes.
This July and August, embark also on a unique voyage into space and uncover the universe's many mysteries with Destination Cosmos.
Westergasfabriek was built in 1883 by the British Imperial Continental Gas Association to light the city’s streets, the unique 4-hectare location used to be the largest coal-fired gasworks in the Netherlands. In the Zuiveringshal, the gas was purified in large boilers with sand and chemicals. After the closing of the factory in the late 1960s, the site was left unused. Since 2003, the industrial monument has been lighting up the city again as a centre for arts, culture and hospitality venues.
